Overview

Product Description

The Reaper HPC is an innovative cooling solution developed by OCZ to effectively minimize heat produced by high-speed memory. As heat rises into the thermo-conductive copper heat pipe conduit, it is dissipated through the strategically-placed compact aluminum fin array. By guiding performance-robbing heat away from key memory components, the unique Reaper HPC design helps facilitate improved overclocking performance, while improving longevity and stability of the modules.

The first modules to be incorporated with the new Reaper heatsink are rated at 1066MHz and run at CL 5-5-5. Featuring an EPP (Enhanced Performance Profiles) programmed SPD, PC2-8500 Reaper HPC modules will immediately boot at the rated specs on the latest generation of NVIDIA SLI chipsets. Although the OCZ Reaper HPC series was coined for enthusiasts, EPP eliminates the need for manual configuration and makes memory optimizations a household item for the complete range of consumers looking to maximize system performance through overclocking.

Good stuff

I used to run 4x1gb of Crucial Ballistix Tracers. However the newer sticks are rubbish and kept dying. (6 sticks died all together).

So I bought these as a replacement. Popped them straight into my DFI and booted 1066mhz @ 5-5-5-15 2.2v without any issues. I also ran some stress tests and the ram is cold to the touch. The heatspreaders do a great job. Whereas my crucial ram would burn my hand.

Overall, great price and a great product.

Anonymous isn't correct

Anonymous statement that Vista64 doesnt recognise 4gb of ram before you install SP1 is incorrect in fact vista64 is perfeclty fine it's vista32 and XP that struggle to find 4gb ram.I have vista64 and 4gb of ram and ive had it long before SP1 came out.Vista really loves the memory so do yourself a favour and get 4gb of it.you dont need the super fast stuff like this unless your overclocking your machine.

These are massive and heavy, good quality feel too, i bought just 2 sticks as i knew 4 wouldnt fit with the big arctic freezer 64 pro, the fan covered 2 slots doh!.

These work well and sit nicely in front of the fan to keep em cool! ive never had any problems with OCZ ram and ive built hundreds of PC's, so buy em you wont regret it.

Crucial are so poor now i will never use them again, they do not work with out blue screening in gigabyte DS4 and GA 57SLi S4, they are so bad i bought an Abit AN78GS and guess what the same thing constant blue screens, so i tried my sons 6400 tracers and the same thing, so bought these OCZ reapers and they worked like a dream, crucial have become pants!!

Shoved 8GB of this in my Asus P5Q Pro and it picked it all up as 1066Mhz right away and all the chips sit nicely together, plenty of room.

Stuck these in my Gigabyte P35C-DS3R and after a bit of tweaking in the BIOS (only Nvidia boards automatically recognise the EPP profiles) then they were running at 5-5-5-18 and 2.1v no problem!

Turned off paging in Vista and things are flying along now!

This is the only memory I was able to successfully run at 1066Mhz in my Asus motherboard based on Intel's i975x chipset. Needed to give it 2.2V though as it generated MEMTEST errors at 2.1V. Awesome memory at a good price and a must for anyone running Vista 64-bit.

Fantastic, but don't buy now

I got this set of 2 sticks for my home-built computer about 6 months ago. Only problems I had were when overclocking by anything more than a few MHz - I think that's my motherboard (GA-P35C-DS3R) though; and also the latency was defaulting to 7-5-5-18 until I set it manually (which gave me a massive boot time reduction!).

Great speed, low latency, high quantity, runs very cool... but I got it for about 80 pounds back in April, and it's gone UP since then so I would definitely recommend moving to DDR3 nowadays, as this stuff just isn't popular enough to be cheap any more.

I was using 4gig of crucial 5300 running at 800 & been very happy with them for many years.

I achieved a overclock on my E6600 of 3gig with the crucial stuff, but after putting in this OCZ kit I could increase my overclock to 3.2 with ease & with it running at 1066 5.5.5.15 this has given me a faster boot time and a much more responsive and faster machine, I should have bought some years ago.

By the way Ordered Friday on super saver delivery and they were knocking on my door Monday morning with my delivery.

Keep up the good work ebuyer.

OMG!!! buy some NOw!!
review by: Anonymous operating system: Windows XP

Ebuyer strikes again! Prompt delivery, no issues. Now for the RAM. It is massive. When I think about the tiddly 667 value RAM I was running (before I got clued up), compared to this stuff.... It's like Cortina vs.Bentley! They're Heavy, they're huge, robust and look amazing! It's been mentioned before, but you should be aware that you must have a decent motherboard to support these running at stated spec, as they need to be 'overclocked' to run at 1066, but this can be achieved no probs with a decent board. Although the HPC is highly effective, it would be wise to ensure you have a good cooling solution (fans or water).

It's wonder they're not more expensive. get em while you can before the price shoots up.

I should also mention they're fast. VERY fast. VERY VERY Fast!
