Good, fast memory...

...as long as you're familiar with your BIOS. The SPD on these modules is programmed with the settings for 1.8V operation, at which settings it will run at PC2-6400 speed. It needs 2.2V VDIMM, the tRA/tRD/tRAS lowering to 15 (from 18 in the SPD) and DIMM clock raising manually to run at PC2-8500 spec. This is not to be taken as a criticism, just be aware that this needs special care when wanting to run at PC2-8500 spec.

Also, Phenom AM2+ processors (I suspect this includes the Kuma (Athlon X2 7750+ BE) core, but don't quote me on this - this IS a processor limitation as the memory controller is embedded in AMD parts) can only handle one 1066 DIMM per channel; this means if you have a board with 4 slots and an 8GB limit, you'll only be able to use the two slots that give you ganged 128bit mode. It'll refuse to boot if you put them both on the same 64 bit controller of try to install 4 modules. In summary, at PC2-8500, limit of two modules maximum, one on each 64bit channel.

OS is FreeBSD7-STABLE amd64 (currently ID'd as 7.2-PRERELEASE) and this works on the Asus M3A78 Pro with a Phenom 9950BE.

Excellent Value For The Price

operating system: Windows XP

I ordered these on monday for a thursday deliver but they arrived a day early (thanks ebuyer).

Got mine at stock speeds at 2.1v I'm using a AMD 9550 Quad Core CPU, Gigabyte GA-MA78G DS3H AM2+ board. I'm running it also in unganged mode 64bit per channel as give better performance so what I've read on my local computer forums.

I say I'm running XP 32bit thats because I had some OCZ Reaper 2GB DDR2 but sold it and left the op system on. If it wasn't for a huge project I have to do this weekend I would be installing the release candiate of Windows 7 64bit which I will next week via dual boot.

Good Good

Bought these sticks to run along side a Intel Quad core Q6600. They really do the job some people don't quite understand that speed is important this RAM comes with the ability to go as high as 1066MHz but when you install them the BIOS will set them to 800MHz so you have to change that in your BIOS.

To make people understand better like I have said above these sticks can run at 1066MHz and my Proccessor can also run at 1066MHz. They liked to be coupled so you can get the best results in performance. I have seen this happen with people but they buy an awesome processor that has a FSB 1333 and then buy RAM that runs at 800MHz now these two components like to run side by side but with these two it means you are wasting performance and losing money because of it so when it comes to purchasing RAM or Processors make sure you can get them to run along side each other.

E.g Intel Quad Core Q6600 runs at 1066MHz

Kingston 2X2GB of RAM runs at 1066 Mhz these will run in harmony together.

Thanks Ebuyer

Got some of this on Saturday for a new build PC - confirmed you DO NEED TO change the voltage and speed manually to get the 1066Mhz

other than that cant fault it!

After a rocky start with delivery and quicky sorted out by excellent customer services, i have just recieved and fitted these.

At first i felt like framing them as they look and felt that good, nice and weighty with a quality assurance feel to them.

These have gone on my system as 5-5-5-18 @ 800mhz so at some point will bother to try to get to the 5-5-5-15 @ 1066 through the bios. Although i do read that there's not that much difference in the 2 settings.

A must buy @ a proper bargain and lifetime guarantee from kingston.

Good but fiddly

Ok so i'v had this abit over a week, thanks to ebuyer's amazing delivery service.

Come's @800mhz stock, to reach 1066mhz only 2 options in your bios will need to be alterd.

DramV [ram voltage] from 1.8v to 2.2v, also you will need to change the multi from 4x800mhz to 5x1066mhz, on an asus board like mine you will need to set it from 3x667 to 1066mhz @5x

In simple text for those of you a little less in the know.

"Change voltage to 2.2volts, and your memory multi to 5x for 1066 mode [may say 1067]".

For people wanting a little more, drop 2.2v on to them, 5-5-5-15-24-2t, bring the ram up to specs.

2.1v and timing of 4-4-4-12-24 will give you 990mhz in 800 mode, making this ram stupidly fast for overclocked systems.

My opinion and over all conclusion....

If you know what your doing, this is bang for your buck right here, if not take a look at some corsair xms2's [abit easyer to use]. They oc like dominators if you know how. Price is great and the only way of getting beter is ddr3 and a million pound lol.

1 star taken as these were for another rig and wanted to just plug and play.

Well deserves all 5 in an overclockers rig, maybe only 3 in a standed user pc.

5 on ebuyer delivery as per usual.

4.5 on memory [refere to the above]

Great RAM, just make sure your BIOS isn't locked
review by: Anonymous rating:

operating system: Windows Vista

As per the previous review, make sure you know your way around BIOS and also ensure that your BIOS isn't locked before you by this product. I'm a newbie to updating/tweaking desktop computers and I didn't realise that my pre-made Acer (as is the case with most pre-made brand computers) had it's BIOS locked when made. This simply means that the average consumer is unable to go into the BIOS menu at start-up to change things like RAM speed/voltage, CPU speed, fan speed, etc. I can certainly see that my Kingston RAM are operating at 1.8 volts but there's simply no way for me to change it (and after a lot of research there seems to be no simple solution, so I'm stuck with my RAM speed). Hence: make sure your BIOS isn't locked.

Otherwise these are nicely packaged and designed with comprehensive instructions on how to install. They do seem to have sped up my computer's multi-processing a bit.
