Good value & performance

Windows VistaOrdered a pair of these when they were on offer at 80 pounds, fantastic value for money from eBuyer.
Considering these are *only* 5400rpm drives performance has been pretty good, copied a load of files over to one and got transfer rates of around 90MB/sec.
Had them nearly a week and no problems so far, fitted in a server that's on 24/7, temps have been around 31C idle.

My PC has got Samsung SATA Hard drives throughout, and they have never been any trouble - affordable, faultless, and high quality!

I bought one of these and one seagate 1.5tb drive for use in a home server,
the seagate drive runs at around 40-45C, the samsung drive runs at an incredible 26-32C (usually 28/29C)which is only 5C warmer than room temperature. Just incredible!!
Not gona talk about performance cos this drive is all about storage - but if you were comparing this to seagate... definitely get this one.

Bargain!

Windows 7I loaded 2 of these into a ReadyNas Duo, and they are cheap, quick and they run super cool 28 degreesC, which keeps the fan speed slow.
Transfer rate is very good despite the slower 5400rpm. Spin up time after sleep mode is 12 seconds.
Pros: Best price/per Tb going.
Cons: Not as quiet as other drives I've had, still perfectly acceptable.
Perfect Media Drive

Windows XPGot 5 of these in my NAS and 2 more in my desktop and all work fine.
These drives are about the best value for money on the market. You could buy two of these for the price of a single 2Tb drive!
Using XP I get 1397.26Gb formatted capacity and the drives run cool and quiet. In fact, whilst idle my NAS reports drive temps as 21C.
These drives are perfect for storing your media. They use low power 5400RPM technology, but are plenty fast enough for streaming any kind of media. Heck! they're max transfer rate is higher than my 640Gb WD Caviar Blue HDD's in my desktop - and those spin at 7200RPM!
I've had no issues with reliability so far (The oldest drives are over 7 months old). The most recent I purchased was used to expand the capacity of my NAS and this drive was constantly accessed during the expansion process for 81 hours and there's been no reported problems.
Set up in 2 min

Windows XPjust got my brand new HD154UI put it in my eSata/Usb enclosure (quick find code: 149273), plug my eSata cable quick find code: 161356). i booted into vista ultimate 64 & ran acronis disk director and 2 min later i was copying files to my new drive, that's how easy it is to set up. speed is not spectacular, but plenty fast enough for backup or even media player (HDTach 88mb/s). overall a good drive at a great price.
Re: No SATA Cable
I'd just like to point out that this drive is the OEM version and as such typically would not come with cables.
Retail versions would come packaged with these sort of extras - but cost more.
The thinking behind this is thaat the sort of people who would buy an OEM "bare" drive would already have the necessary cables etc when building or upgrading their machine.
Efficient Hdd at the moment the one to beat

Windows 7I own 4 of these and am about to order a 5th. At the moment these hard disks are some of the best on the market for mass storage use, they take very little power to spin up, support staggered spinnup if you have more than one attached to the same power cable. There also make almost no noise and run very cool. They are not super fast, but they are not meant to be any way so that is not an issue instead these should be used for large RAID arrays and cheep efficient storage.

Would recommend, top marks.
