Better than expected
operating system:Windows 7I bought this after using the fantastic keysonic wireless keyboard for the last two years on my HTPC. Reviews of that will tell you that it's hard to beat -and to be fair i didn't expect the xenta to do it, as it is pointed at a slightly different market.
Initial impressions are very good. It's smaller than I thought. The keys are probably the same size as, but better spaced out than a Blackberry. Here the keysonic wins hands down - the keys are very nice to type on compared to the Xenta. If you only want to type occasionally and control media more, then the xenta is probably perfect.
As a HTPC, this really hits the mark. I'm in my mid 40's with fingers more akin to shovels than the dainty dabs of you teenagers, and i can manage to type on this no problem. You can forget touch typing of course and each stroke needs to be more deliberate. keyboard feedblack is a definite rubbery click, more like hitting the button on a remote control than a keyboard. The pad was very responsive and I quite like the mouse buttons on the top, as you tend to want hold it like a game-pad anyway. Scrolling is done via the LH rocker pad and the RH pad is for media control. I'm guessing these are laid out to allow for mapping to a game pad-type set up. There is a WMC button and a very welcome power on-off switch. Set up was just plug and go on W7 64bit.
My only negative is that I would cringe if I dropped it from any height. At £20.00 I'm not sure it's fair to expect titanium shell construction. However, i initially thought the same of my keysonic, which went on to survive about 20 good drops before i lost the function of several keys. So time and too much wine till tell.
Great little keyboard
operating system:Windows 7I bought this as i'd just got a media PC up and running, but thought that a full sized keyboard and mouse were a little impractical for the lounge - after all i do mostly watching video, with the odd bit of web browsing.
Although it does look and feel a little cheap and plastic it works *brilliantly*. Fantastic range and brilliant functionality, the little touchpad is ideal and although you won't be writing an essay on the keyboard, it's perfect for putting in the odd web address.
Can't go wrong at this price
operating system:Windows 7This has everything you need to control your HTPC. Every button/function you could want, placed very logically. Feels natural and easy to use. I prefer this to more expensive wireless keyboards I've used. Used at a distance of 5 metres no problem at all.
Yes it might look/feel a bit lightweight and flimsy but what do you want for that price? A no brainer. 5 stars.
Great little piece of kit
operating system:Windows 7Agree with the other reviewers-this does the job.Its about the size of a PS3/XBOX 360 controller-feels very good in the hand.PnP with WIN 7, no driver disk or anything. I think it is 2.4Ghz, not IR, so you can put your HTPC away in a unit somewhere, and it still works. Thinking of buying a 2nd one, for the other PC, as so impressed. Get one!
