Excellent value for money
operating system:Windows 7The Iiyama Prolite X2377HDS is definitely a step up from my previous 19" resolution monitor. The colour reproduction and contrast in particular is vastly superior, providing a warmer and more natural image. The menu system is also quite easy to navigate and configure to your satisfaction.
As a PC gamer I was somewhat apprehensive about purchasing an IPS monitor after hearing stories of ghosting during periods of high action game play. So far I've tried two FPS titles, those being Left 4 Dead 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2, and have not noticed any ghosting using DVI as the input connection.
However I do have two small gripes about the monitor. Firstly, in my experience the stand does cause the monitor the wobble occasionally. My computer table is not the sturdiest of constructions but one cannot help feeling that a more robust stand would have been more appropriate for a monitor of this size. My old 19" monitor in comparison has a far heavier and seemingly stronger base than this 23" Iiyama model and wobbled only if I literally shook the table. Secondly, whilst playing films and games with very dark scenes I have noticed some backlight bleeding at either end of the monitor. It seems harsh to criticise Iiyama on this point, especially as every monitor I've seen in this price range suffers similar results. On a further pedantic note, the monitor sports a shiny black bezel; the sort that collects smudges and finger prints. This may be a point of aesthetic attraction or aversion depending on the user's stylistic preference.
In summary, the Iiyama Prolite X2377HDS monitor is excellent value for money, offering very good colour reproduction and general PC gaming performance. The stand is a slight concern however and may be a point of irritation for some, hence the 4 stars.
