Wow - Antec Nine Hundred - Antec 900 Gaming Case
review by: Rob Dudley operating system: Not Applicable

This Antec Nine Hundred case is absolutely freaking amazing! I ordered it with next day delivery an sure it enough there it was thanks to ebuyer! Everything about this case looks awesome. Even the rubber feet have the same grill effect on them that the rest of the case does. The top firewire/usb/audio ports are in a perfect place even if you have your computer on the desk like me. The power button is a bit boring, just a small black button however the rest of the case quickly makes up for it. Even the floppy drive has it's own special 5.25 bay converter and a special front plate for it. The side window is really nice and the meshed portion with the fan holder is even cooler (Pun intended) When all the fans are switched to loud, it is very loud. But when you change them down to quiet mode they are but a whisper lol! And they certainly shift a lot of air. The top 200mm fan is super quiet, way more than you'd expect and is really just fantastic. Installing everything was easy and quick, no sharp edges to be found in this case. The power supply going at the bottom is really nice if you have a PSU with a LED fan. One of my fans on the front of the case is a slightly different blue, it's more aqua, where as the other is the same colour as those seen in the pictures. This case is very very sturdy, but when everything is loaded in it's pretty heavy!
This is easily my best purchase of the year, go on and treat yourselfs to this brilliant looking case.

Also just to note how cool the case is, my PNY 6600GT used to idle at 78C now it's at 58C :D

Classy Case - Antec Nine Hundred

Agree with Rob Dudley, this is a fantastic case if the design appeals to you (definitely Marmite styling though - some love it, some hate it from what I've read). Personally I liked the sleek military / sci-fi / kevlar look so much I ended up upgrading everything in it to do it justice :) Woops, there goes the bank balance... Cooling and air-flow is amazing (and quiet on low settings), with an AMD X2 4600+, 1TB across 3 drives, 4GB memory and an overclocked BLISS 7800GS+, I still can't get the CPU above 40C or the GPU above 55C even under heavy load and fans only on low. /Mr. Burns voice/ Excellent...

Like Rob mine came with one dark blue fan, one cyan. Contacted Antec, sent them a photo, and they've promised to send me a replacment for the cyan one. Not got it yet though. Also, though the drive caddies are a great idea and I love how they're configurable in any order, you'll need a magnetised screwdriver to get the drive screws in. Impossible to get at otherwise - wierd bit of design that, considering all the other nice design touches, like little sink holes in various places to easily get screws back if you do drop them.

All in all, case has great looks, quality construction, and if you need serious cooling you won't get anything better than this short of splashing out on a water cooling system :)

Fantastic case. Nice and solid, easy to set up. Recomend buying fan for side as it cools down mobo nicely. Temps for 6600 core duo running @ 3500 are around 35 degrees and 33 for mobo. Very nice. On forums there was a post saying there is a prob with conecting gpu with monitor. I have had no probs. One tip tho, buy a couple of filters for the fans, they suck in a lot of dust!

I cannot reccommend this case enough! It is so good.
Looks wise, it is amazing with its twin 120mm fans at the front glowing blue. Its sleek and just beautiful.

It cut my case temperature by 5 degrees. Im now running at a sweet 23 degrees celcius.

One thing I would reccommend is getting a good 120mm fan for the side panel. I would suggest a 120mm Xilence fan (theyre red and silent and very good).

Overall I would buy this case 100 times because it such good value for money.

Very quiet on low speed fan setting even with all the fans going on. Not that much louder with them all on full.

The 200mm fan on top really makes a difference and makes the case stand out. You can also make things float in the air by placing things ontop of it.

Endless fun.

Buy this, you wont regret it.

Quality - Antec Nine Hundred

Quality built case, looks great. Best value/quality case you could ever buy.

small problems:

20psu connector on old PSU's are too small to reach my mobo power.

The 200mm fan was faulty and gave off a red glow followed by smoke and an awful stench. However i'm getting this replaced.

overall:

The best case i've ever had, and i don't think you'll need to change once you get it.

I had serious problems with my previous Nemesis Gaming case and A8N32SLI Deluxe mother boar cooling. Got fed up my MB running approx 40C on idle and AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ (Over Clocked just up to 2800 MHz ) running around 44C with Akasa Evo 33 cooler. Also my XFX 7800 GPU temperatures where around region of 56C ( Stock cooling ). As soon as I run any games like GTR , RD3 etc. the MB temperatures reached temperatures up to 48C , CPU around 50C and GPU over 79C.

After upgrading to this case these temperatures dropped drastically . My MB temperature on idle runs around 31C, CPU around 31C and GPU 46C , still using same stock fan. Case is currently set for lowest fan speed with 120 mm stock fans and medium with 200mm fan ( No additional fans added ). Akasa Evo 33 CPU cooler is set to 2000 rpm. With these settings when playing same games as per above the MB temperature at max reaches up to 34C, CPU at max peaks 38C and GPU temperature at max peaks around 59C.

I agree with some of the other reviews that due the PSU located at bottom of the case one may run into problems with the MD power connections, luckily my Corsair HX520 PSU cables where just long enough. Also the fact that HD and removable media drives must be secured using screws may take some extra time during initial case setup but the end result will justify all of this.

What can I say , I can only recommend this case for some one who is looking a case that can make a major difference on cooling levels without taking next step and move to water cooling. Also on bonus side, even if some of the web reviews say that this case is not as quiet as Antec advertises this to be. Compared to my Nemesis case this one is “ dead silent”.

Great case

This is a great case, so much better than my 4 year old case it has just replaced. It looks great in black, very solid, has tool-less screws that can be turned by thumb and finger, great psu positioning, drive bays that slide out the front so even when your motherboard and graphics card hinder access from behind you simply slide out the front. You'll only need a screw driver for fitting your HDD/DVD drives. My blue led lights were all the same shade of blue so no worries there as some other reviewers said their lights were different. All in all the case is solid, the fans keep everything very cool and it looks great in black next to my 24" widescreen black dell (samsung) monitor. Couldn't be happier with it.

Great build and fantastic cooling!
review by: James Wilson rating:

Recently purchased this case to build my new system, I previously used Antecs P180. The build quality is not as high but I found the features of the P180 made the inside of the case crampt and difficult to work with.

The Nine Hundred sports a more traditional layout but with the PSU at the bottom, this can cause issues with the length of your PSU power cables which connect to the Motherboard. I found that the Antec True Power Trio 650W had adequate length and is rated as being able to power up to 2x 8800 GTS in SLi.

Overall a fantastic looking case thats nice to work with and has fantastic cooling capabilities, you will be shocked at the monstrous size of that top fan! I highly recommend the Antec Nine Hundred, especially at Ebuyers price =p
