Fantastic!
operating system:
Windows XPBought one of these mice about 4/5 years ago after an old HP laser mouse died on me. Probably the best thing that ever happened to me.
Despite what the other person on here says about it not working, being bad quality...what utter rubbish. Mines still working as well as the day I got it, fits my hand perfectly and none of the buttons are out of reach for me (my hands are about medium sized).
The scrollwheel comment (having some play inbetween its click movement) is negligible because on EVERY mouse ive personally had, they all do it.
The 8 buttons are ALL re-configurable with the included software, instead of the resolution buttons increasing/decreasing the DPI you can change them to act like an ordinary generic assignable button, very awesome! Plus its not necessary to keep it on once youve changed the configuration due to the mouse remembering all your preferences.
People should look at what they are buying before they get something and complain, its not a massive mouse, but gaming mice are smaller naturally, the DPI changing is a godsend in games and photoshop/3DS MAX and the amount of buttons is fantastic, again for gaming and other chores.
Using this mouse on Linux is a travesty, yes it works, but youre not gaming with a gaming mouse and the included software wont work to change button setups.
Ignore the other persons negative review, trust me.
Dont know what 2 stars is about.
operating system:
Windows VistaHave been using this mouse for over a year, when a friend asked me to recommend a decent gaming mouse this was what came to mind.
Whilst getting a link for him i read this persons review which complained about almost everything.
They couldnt be more wrong, I can only assume they have tiny hands.
This mouse is comfortable, accurate and reliable, 5 stars easily.
Solid Dependable mouse.
operating system:
Windows VistaI've had this mouse for around 3 years and have not had a single problem with it.
Software that comes with it makes it simple to change the button assignments. It's outlived two keyboards and the only sign of wear is the logitech logo has rubbed off a bit where the palm rests.
My only gripe is that it is a optical mouse rather than a laser, so it can't be used on some shiney surfaces. But that shouldn't bother most folks as glass tables aren't something you regularly want to use a mouse on. Although for use with a laptop (w/o mousemat) you might want to consider the more surface versatile logitech G5 laser mouse. That said this mouse is pretty much perfect for any desktop systems.
MX518 - Superb
operating system:
Windows VistaI have had my 518 for the best part of 3 years now. It works just as well today as it did the day I brought it (replaced a Razer Diamondback)
Its effortless to program the buttons, I have large hands and it fits comfortably.
Superb for gaming loving it in COD5.
Get one today :)
Obviously the guy who left the bad FB dont know much about mice ;)
Fantastic
operating system:
Windows XPHad this for around 6-7 months
Perfect mouse. Best I have ever owned
Included utilities are great - very easy to use
Great Mouse
operating system:
Windows XPPerfect size, great tracking, easy to use...
Only downside is the colour which isnt really an issue.
5 Star
Amazing quality.
operating system:
Windows VistaMy girlfriend bought me this for my birthday due to me using a old football mouse with 2 buttons and a mouse wheel for so many years she felt i needed something different so she ended up buying me this.
What can i say, for 23 i was astonished by its performance.
People might just say a mouse is a mouse and nothing can go wrong well a lot can.
But i cannot find 1 flaw with this design.
My hand fits perfectly onto this mouse without any trouble, everything is where it should be.
All the little keys on it are very helpful, especially the little menu key (in red) That you can press below the mouse wheel.
This is a perfect gaming mouse and logitech has done one hell of a job with this.
Save you're money, spend 23 on this instead of 40+ on other designs.
Top buy, Can't go wrong.
Awesome mouse
operating system:
Windows 7This is the best mouse I have ever owned. It all started 5 years ago with the mx510 my friend had. I am on my 3rd mx series mouse, I got the mx510 then, and when I saw there existed the same mouse with better internals and a smoother gliding large feet, I knew this was the mouse for me (I actually wore the 510 down to the point the plastic was wearing thin, that's how much use I got out of that mouse).
The side buttons are in perfect positions, the mouse moves smooth and predictably so it's very reliable, and on the fly dpi changes are really nice when some games are more sensitive than others (or in some games when you hop in a sluggish turret or something).
I like the smooth feel in my palm of the plastic, and the soft grips are in just the right places. I also like that they put this mouse at a price range any enthusiast can appreciate.
Overall 5 stars, recommended.
Not a looker but a great performer
operating system:
Windows 7...I'm not sure about the faux dented appearance of this mouse but it really is a great performer, especially for most gaming needs so it more than makes up for it!
It might not be the newest mouse on the block but I can heartily recommend it to anyone - especially at this price!
The best gaming mouse there is
operating system:
Windows XPThe mx518 is used by most serious fps gamers and it most certainly is not out of date. I'm not going to go into all of the features like all the other reviews have done, but instead going to tell you the type of people that use it. If you do a forum search on the CPL website (Cyberathlete Professional League) for the best mouse, the mx518 will be the mouse voted highest. This isn't an entry level gaming mouse, it's the best one and the only one in many gamers eyes. Over a series of tests where many brands and models were tested, the mx 500(not being produced anymore), mx510, mx5180 were by far the best performing mice, beating all laser mice such as the g5, g9 and all razer products.
Gaming mice aren't about all the features, buttons, weights etc Those are all gimmicks. All that matters is the responsiveness and the natural synchronisation one can have when using a mouse like this.
One fault about most logitech mice is they break easily if you're not careful. I have been through about 7 of them. I only recently found out why they keep on breaking. It's because I let my mouse wire hang off the end of my desk going to my desktop which is on the floor. So I would constantly tugg on the wire which is being held down by gravity. Which would pull on the wires and eventually break them. A way to fix this is put a paper weight on the wire on your desk so the wire hanging off your desk isn't a problem. This problem usually occurs after a year of constant use (I mean 6 hours a day).
