operating system:Windows VistaGot this instead of the Keysonic one - and I'm glad I did. The unit itself is quite well put together, with screws used instead of push fit plastic and none of it feels cheap. Installing it really is as simple as plugging in the small USB receiver and watching windows automatically configure the drivers, there is no CD. Range is decent (I have mine 5m away, with the receiver plugged in the back of my HTPC) and there is no lag or erroneous keystrokes. Also, it does not seem to suffer interference from any Wi-Fi equipment. The hotkeys work as labelled, but some are media centre specific; pressing the music one whilst on the desktop does nothing, which is a bit of a shame. Also, the zoom hotkeys do the opposite of what they are labelled as in Firefox, but work correctly in all other apps, this is obviously a Firefox issue, which I'm sure can be easily fixed by changing the Firefox keyboard shortcut. The touchpad is good, accurate and sensitive. It fares as well as the one on my notebook, even if it is a bit on the smaller side. You CAN left click by tapping, you do not need to use the L+R click buttons on the other side of the keyboard.
Functionally brilliant, let down by feel
operating system:Windows VistaFunctionally this keyboard is perfect. Most important to me is that the Ctrl button is on the bottom left, not a Fn key. The Fn key on this is on the top right. So now my hand feels right when playing 1st person shooters for ducking with pinki finger. Also all the shortcut buttons work with Vista, no drivers required installing. Range is also good, and NO LAG either. Had no problems from anywhere in my living room except when the battery started getting flat. At first I thought it was a fault, but as the battery gets flat, the range is reduced and the symptoms are "sticky keys". Not literally, just the action is like holding a key in. Getting closer or changing batteries solves problem. (2 x AA - using rechargables).
The LEDs for Num/Caps/Scroll lock are especially useful. On a living room keyboard with no number pad, these lights are normally off, so don't eat battery, and knowing num-lock really is off is extremely handy with passwords.
Wake up time is quick, press any key and the device comes out of sleep mode immediately so that the second key you press is sent to the PC. You cannot wake it from the mouse pad, keys only.
Counter to a previous review, if you read the manual you will see that the mouse pad does have a scroll function - you need to touch with two fingers, then it scrolls (up/down only). Tap for single or double click too. Not quite as responsive as my HP laptop, but good enough.
Now the downside: This thing feels fairly cheap. There is a bit of a rattle of plastic and the keys and key action is pretty basic. If they had made this more robust, a bit heavier, and with soft touch quiet keys it would be one of the best in the world.
Lastly a minor niggle, the button under the spacebar invokes Vista Media Centre. I hit it accidentally in the beginning quite often which was annoying.
I'll still use this until it breaks. Once used to the quality, I do like it, more so than any other wifi keyboard I've had despite the build quality.

operating system:Windows VistaBought this thinking it would be cheap and poorly finished.... couldn't have been more wrong though. This keyboard is slim, well designed and compact. The touch pad works very well and Vista Ultimate requires no drivers for full functionality. All the media buttons work correctly and the range / responsiveness is excellent....
Can't fault this keyboard... can imagine it selling for considerable more than the current price!!
