Absolute Quality - and it cools as well
operating system:Windows 7This is a superb cooler. If you have never considered a top down cooler before, this is the one of choice for sure.
The device fits over the motherboard with plenty of clearance for the memory modules. The push pull 140mm fans and huge radiator keep my overclocked/overvolted Phenom II at 33 idle. And this is in quiet mode.
All the neccessary fittings for both AMD and Intel are labeled respectively. Fitting the heatsink is very easy and the finished result is very secure.
The heatsink requires the backplate on the motherboard to be fitted with Noctua's own brackets. But once the brackets are in place you can fit or remove the heatsink without removing the motherboard which is a real plus.
This is an ideal heatsink if you are using a case which has a large fan on the side panel as it is not as tall as the more popular tower models.
Impressive cooling from a beautifully engineered device which just oozes quality,all the way down to the solid metal Noctua case badge!

operating system:Windows 7 First off I would like to say thanks to the ebuyer.com customer service team which I personally felt to be top notch! I made and error on my smartphone which ordered sevral of these coolers and paid for them, I only wanted 1!!! I was like oh my god :(
So the next day I phoned ebuyer which sharply answered my call I found the female I spoke to very polite, professional and fast to deal with my problem. Happy :)
Anyway to the cooler. First off when I received this CPU cooler I was amazed by the size of the box, this cooler is pretty large but very well deigned so the bulk is accounted for by the low profile "C" shape and options to remove fans if memory heat sink fins or case size should they cause a problem but clearance is fine for most standard ram heights just check before buying.
The build quality is extremely good and justified the price tag, even the metal case badge was a nice touch for me! The last cooler I had was a corsair H50 which was a superb cooler and I can't knock it but these are the reasons I think the NH-C14 for me is slightly better -
1) Reliability - Due to the high >150,000 hours MTBF of the included fans and the looks of the fans build I just put more trust into the NH-C14 as well as the technology difference as the H50 has a pump it was just another thing to fail!
2) Performance - I would say this would be equal to if not better than my previous "H50" temperatures my CPU barely goes above 40 degrees C on my "AMD Phenom ii x4 955BE" (stock 3.2GHz) Another thing I like with this cooler which the Noctua NH-D14 doesn't offer is the downward airflow so cools your Mosfets and motherboard as well as the ram! The fan size is also a plus as the large 140mm fan choice which means lower RPM to get good airflow and in turn = better quietness compared to say a 92mm or 120mm fan trying to more the same volume of air!
3) Appearance - I really like the looks of this cooler and though I have heard some say they dislike the fan color? I feel it is what makes Noctua, Noctua and is the brands identity, I like it anyway! I think this would pretty appealing inside any case with a window :)
4) Compatibility - This cooler is very good choice for a HTPC like my Lian "Li PC-C60B" it fits perfect in ! the option to take off the top fan gives a bit more compatibility with more HTPC chassis out there.
I highly recommend this cooler it's top notch and is worth every penny...
