Product Description
The card provides on-board screening of VLANs Tagged Ethernet frames, allowing your PC to be configured with VLAN-supported switch. Your PC can be part of a VLAN network, where domains are segmented up to enhance performance and security.
Wake-On-LAN (WOL) is an Advanced Configuration Power Interface (ACPI) function allowing a powered OFF computer to be powered ON from a remote station. This function allows the administrator to send wake-up signals to a computer. The WOL function provides a great utility for power management of the PC and allows users to initiate action at irregular times and from distant locations.
The card's embedded flow control and independent FIFO provide a means to protect against possible data loss during transmission on the network. When connected to a Gigabit switch supporting flow control, the card receives signals from the switch regarding buffer overrun during peak usage periods. The card then delays transmission until the switch is ready again to accept new data.
Using a single chip solution, this card is very small in size and consumes very little power of your computer system.

Compatability
operating system:LinuxI bought 2 cards and each works with the driver straight out of the box for Windows and the same with Linux. One of the easist cross platform things I've installed. Very happy with this.
Works fine with FreeBSD 5.x
operating system:OtherBought one for a FreeBSD 5.3 server and it was recognized out of the box. Using it linked up to a Apple G4 PowerMac. It runs fine and is blisteringly fast.
I've just ordered some more and a Gigabit switch for use with video editing.
Great cards, but you'll need a recent Linux kernel
operating system:LinuxThese cards are great - I have two in my gateway.
However, support for this card was only added to the Linux kernel in version 2.6.10. (The card is based on the 8169 chipset; although Linux had 8169 support prior to 2.6.10, only in 2.6.10 was this card associated with the driver.)
Another great thing about this card: it comes with full height and half height PCI brackets.
Excellent Piece of Hardware
operating system:Windows XPThat is the Best Network hardware I have ever used, I have an IC7-G motherboard with built in Intel Gigabit adapter it died recently and since then I have been trying all types of Network PCI cards and none of them worked even D-Link 10/100. But this one worked and it Is very powerful, Cheap and very easy to install I would recommended it to every one.
