Best quiet case I've ever owned
operating system:
Windows VistaSolid construction, solid materials. The noise dampening components work well and stock fans are quiet enough to stand for it's name, "Whisper". Very large and roomy, practically a full sized case. Excellent layout and design: professional, sophisticated and sleek. Out of several cases I've had experience with, this is by far my favorite.
The PSU is on the bottom of the case, which, while unusual, is really quite nifty and well thought, leaving more room to work with your mobo, as well as decreasing the heat in the top compartment (they have two separate air-flow channels).
This case is well worth the cost!! It's far the best I've ever had the pleasure to own.
Big and heavy - but damned good!
operating system:
Not ApplicableThis is the first e-atx case i've ever owned and its pretty big. It was a pleasure to work with though and I know it'll last me for years.
First of all the case is crazily heavy. this case alone is as heavy as my other midi case and all of its components inside. A side panel alone of this is about as heavy as one of the cheapo ebuyer/casecom cases... At least you know it'll take a beating.
The front door is nice, but it does have plastic hinges so treat it with a little respect - its wont be as tough as the rest of the case. It has a magnetic feature so it will hold itself flush to the case when shut.
There is a 3.5" bay at the top of the case, but I believe this can be moved around into any of the 5.25" bays.
The front of it has a blue LED fan, but its not 120mm as I thought it was (as I tried to replace it, only to find that its bigger, maybe a 150mm or 160mm fan). It has a dust filter on it, which is nice. This fan at 12V is audible though as its used as the main intake fan. Its a good idea to set this to silent on your mobo. I modded all of my fans to run on 5V.
5.25" screwless rails are nice - they make things pretty simple. Hard drive rails are good, rubber gromets work well, making my drives very quiet, but they havnt defeated the samsung hum. (Some people have reported that samsung drives make a pulsing hum sound - I have 3 and mine certainly do) so im still experimenting with that. This has been a problem for a few cases ive had though so its not a design flaw of this case. I cant hear any crunching / seek noise from any of the hard drives.
Side panels and roof have sound absorbing material on them - this is good and its like little mountains making it squashy, so it plays nice with any overhanging cables (hard drive cables i think are touching it, but it doesnt matter)
There was enough space for all of my components, but I did have to extend my 12V 4pin mobo connector - amazing what can be done with speaker wire. With there being so much room, (and possibly so much length between mobo and psu) its a good idea to check psu cable lengths as mine was obviously designed to be at the top of the case.
Other fans - it has 2 80mm fans at the bottom at the back in the hard drive compartment, pushing air outwards, also it has a 120mm fan at the back in the top compartment. I cant really comment on temps as my system is designed to use minimal power - so much so my CPU doesnt need a fan (gotta love the celeron 420).
Very very pleased with this case.
