Awesome!

Got this bad boy delivered Saturday morning after only ordering it Friday evening. This was my first ATI card, and an upgrade from my Nvidia GTX 260 core 216.

I have to say it is an amazing upgrade, and I am blown away by its performance! Dirt 2 looks absolutely stunning and I know that this card will just annihilate anything I throw at it!

I almost bought a 5870 but could not justify the extra cost, considering the 5850 is more than capable of running any game currently on the market. It also has a very good shelf life considering the DX11 capability.

For just under £220 the Sapphire 5850 was great value too. These are really hard to find at the moment and I am really glad I didn't have to get it from anywhere else

5 Stars for the card, and 5 stars for Ebuyer's amazing customer service!

Sapphire HD5850.

I ordered this card for £218 just before the price went up, so I feel like I got a bargain. If I paid the £255 though, it would still be worth it. This card is paired with my Intel E8500, overclocked to 4.5GHz.

This card is amazing... it's blown away all my expectations. With MSI Afterburner, I adjusted the voltage to 1350mV (1.35V) and set about overclocking for a suicide run. I managed to get my card 3D Benchmark stable (3DMark Vantage) at 1125MHz on the Core and 1380MHz on the memory - hugely fast. This resulted in a 3D Mark Vantage GPU score of 19,782 - amazingly fast for a single card solution, especially at its price point.

This card runs all my games flawlessly, even at my resolution of 1920 x 1200. It also runs very cool and quiet, with a custom fan profile that I created, so that the fan spins up only when the GPU needs it to.

Get this card!

PS. The card looks way better with no sticker, and is still covered by Sapphire's warranty if it's removed. :D

Great card!

Every now and again a Graphics card comes along that offers enormous performance in relation to its price, this is such a card.

I usually go for the range topping card, in this case the 5970. At 12.2 inches in length there was no way it would fit in my case without me getting the cutting tools out.

The 5850 Measures around 9.5 inches so should fit in most mid size tower cases.

I ordered two of these for a crossfire setup. The performance is outstanding running at 1920x1080 these are just crushing everything. I am maxing all details at this high resolution with the exeption of AA in some titles.

Two of these in crossfire would be overkill if you are running below 1680x1050 resolution, where im sure one of these beasts would more than suffice.

A couple of issues i have had.

- When using a dual monitor setup with the card overclocked using ati overdrive. The 2D downclock that ATI's Latest cards employ to save energy when A 3D app is not in use, causes tearing(Think Vsync off) on my second display. This is simply because the 157Mhz core 300Mhz mem the card reverts too in 2D mode simply isnt enough.

There are work arounds for this that i wont go into here, also i should imagine a future driver/bios release will sort this out.

- Secondly at anything over 50% fan speed the card is loud. There is no need to run the fan this high, just a note to people who wish to push the overlclocking limits of this card on air cooling. With the fan set to auto the card is very quiet. As one of the other reviewers mentioned msi afterburner is very useful for creating custom fan profiles.

All in all the best card i have purchased in a long time. It might not be the fastest in the world but in terms of bang for buck its a belter.

Great service from Ebuyer as usual, ordered 23:00 friday night they were with me by 10:00 the saturday morning.
