Very Nice

Just a quick reveiw guys...

OK. CPU runs sweet as, details below... (im on 64bit vista)

Name = AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
Code Name = Windsor
Package = Socket AM2 (940)
Technology = 90nm
Voltage = 1.350 v
Core Speed = 3014MHz
Multiplier = x 15.0
Bus Speed = 200.9MHz
HT Link = 1004.7MHz

For me and as I looked into it others have this issue... this processor is not recognised by some motherboards. Therefor when your system boots up the processor shows up as "AMD Processor model unknown" also in windows (xp + vista) it says the same thing. However even though it says that the CPU/Processor is working as it should be.

from 4200+ to 6000+
review by: Stephen rating:

AMD Athlon 6000+ (obviously)
ATi 1950xtx
512MB GDDR4
3024MB DDR2
2x Hitachi 320GB
ASUS WiFi deluxe

There is an error with this CPU were the system doesn’t recognise the name of the CPU hopefully an update will come out or a BIOS update for my motherboard.

From a 4200+ this is a massive upgrade and I noticed it instantly on boot up, make sure you use a really good cooler with this CPU so you get the best out of it, also some really good CPU cement OCZ make an expensive but really good cement ebuyer sell it, I’ve got this running at a stable 45c with OCZ cement and Zalman CNPS9500 cooler.

Next upgrade a NVIDIA graphics card in SLi I think as ATi seem to have screwed me a bit although I was a loyal fan.

AMD processor instead of Intel
review by: Andy Morrell rating:
customer rating
operating system: Windows XP

I bought this chip as an upgrade from a machine I built 4-5 years ago so I was lagging behind a bit when it came to the new chips.

I bought this is it compared with price and performance with Intel seemed to be a happy medium.

This processor is awesome, works fine and I have had no problems with it. I would say buy a really nice cooling system for this as AMD always have done and probably always will run a little bit warm. I bought the Arctic Cooling (AC-FRZ-64P) Freezer64 Pro (quick code 101471) and even though this is 12 pounds my CPU temp stays at a constant 30C which is pretty good.

BUY IT

This is a brilliant processor for the money, rivalling the high-end Intel processors for a fraction of the cost.

It's hot so get a good cooler. I have a Scythe Infinity which works a treat.

Bottom line is that this is fast but yet cheap... buy it!

Amazing speed

please ignore Usman Hanif's review, he could have other issues like insufficient cooling etc. this CPU is lightning fast and with a good fan will run very cool. i run lots of programs at once and this CPU doesn't show any signs of lagging, games are stunning too.

BEST BUY.

GREAT PERFORMANCE
review by: IAIN DUNCAN rating:

operating system: Windows Vista

Upgraded from a 4600+ and the performance increase is very obvious.
This is a very good value chip,especially since AMDs recent price cuts.
Not as easily overclockable as my 4600+,but with 3ghz x2 I am leaving it at stock speed. A five point increase in Vista performace rating was also very encouraging for me.
Well worth getting if you are thinking of building an AM2 platform.In fact at this price dont get anything less...

no fan
review by: llywmog operating system: Windows Vista

in reply to previous post, it doesn't come with a fan as it's oem. mind you, you're best off buying a new fan instead of using the stock fan anyway.

Bah!
review by: Alex operating system: Windows XP

Usman Hanif is probably just trying to add credence to his request for a new chip, probly nothing wrong with it at all, just trying to scrounge a freebie. Ive never had any problems with AMD in the past, and this one is definitely on my list (unless of course the 6400+ black edition comes out at a reasonable price)
