Various disciplines would benefit tremendously from Threadripper. Threadripper would accelerate a software developer's virtual machines and compiler times, an artist's complex scenes and render times, and more. Although a Threadripper would be technically awesome for gaming, it'd be frankly overkill. If you're looking for a primarily gaming processor, the Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 9 CPUs are a more logical option.
