Great bang-for-the-buck CPU
review by: Jonathan Eales operating system: Windows Vista

I just installed this into an Asus P5KPL-AM motherboard (QF: 148094) after upading to the latest BIOS 516 revision. Used an AC Freezer 7 Pro CPU cooler fan (QF: 105994).

Then I overclocked to 3.2Ghz giving a Windows Experience CPU score of 6.5.

The 2Mb cache, higher FSB rate and the greater clock speed surely suit this CPU and set it apart from the other Pentium and Celeron versions.

A Core 2 Duo CPU for half the price. A great performer for the average user and basic gamer.

Superb value

I bought this to replace an AMD dual core 4200, and this is WAAAAY faster. Its begging to be overclocked.

27 degrees on the included cooler (which is HORRENDOUSLY loud for the first 40 minutes of use for some reason, then quietens)

For this price, don't miss it.

This is a Core 2 Duo Processor!
review by: J Adams-Collman operating system: Not Applicable

Yes!! This is a Core 2 Duo Processor!

Here's the link:

http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Core_2/Intel-Core%202%20Duo%20E6300%20HH80557PH0362M%20(BX80557E6300).html

The only thing is it is on the 65nm process and not the 45nm process like the E7300 or the E8400.

If you can live with that, then you can get this cheap Core 2 Duo Processor!!!

(Also check here:

http://www.intel.com/Consumer/Learn/Desktop/core2duo-detail.htm

and click on 'Processor Numbers'. This is probably a E6400 but they have dropped the number i.e. E6300 and increased the speed to fit in with the rest of their overall processor model/range.)

Ps - please rate this so it becomes the most populer for everyone!

This is a "Pentium Dual Core" not a "Core 2 Duo"...
review by: Wickzter operating system: Not Applicable

Just to try and clear up the debate, this is in fact a "Pentium Dual Core", and uses the new 45nm process, and has a speed of 2.8GHz. The previous E6300 was a "Core 2 Duo" but had a speed of 1.8GHz and has gone EOL. This should be a great CPU and sites somewhere between the E5x00 and E7600 as it has VT.

Hope someone finds this helpfull

This is the best processor i've owned up to date, being 16 my experience is not too great but this is the greatest i've worked with... only until i get my hands on a Core i7 ;)

OC'd to 3.8 with aftermarket cooling

Brilliant piece of kit, along with a Sapphire 5850 can play Crysis at Very high, 1680 x 1050 with 4 x AA and still get an average of about 32 FPS Loving ;)

Right move!! :D

Summed up in one sentence : Processor with some power!

Great!

operating system: Windows 7

I broke my AMD Athlon 5600+ 64 Bit Processor and was on a tight budget. I bought a new motherboard and this CPU as its closely matched to my previous processor. The new motherboard has issues with double and single sided ram which is annoying so I have had to reduce my memory from 3GB to 2GB (Using two double sided modules). Since installting this new CPU, PC worked fine and it runs much quieter then my previous AMD chip.

I have never had an Intel PC before, but I can say from this I think I might be having one again!

Superb buy for the price. My system:

Intel Pentium Dual Core E6300 2.8GHz CPU

2GB Corsair DDR 2 667MHz RAM

320GB Maxtor SataII HDD

500GB Western Digital SataII HDD

ATI Radeon HD5770 1GB GDDR5 Graphics Card.

Windows 7 Rating 5.5 (Memory is the lowest rated item).

I think I will be getting an 8GB kit soon so the score will improve to 5.9, lowest rated compenent being the Sata Hardrives.

Put this in an ASUS P5Q SE2 board (p45 chipset) and it is brilliant.

Windows 7 score of 6.3 for the processor with this board, staying under 40oC playing Far Cry 2 at 1280x1024

Should overclock very easily

Can't get a better bang for your buck

Technology ?? 45nm or 65nm
review by: Mav operating system: Windows Vista

Problem is that there are two different E6300 cpu,s one is 65nm Technology the other is 45nm Technology and the 45 wont work on a 65nm motherboard as i have bought this and cant get it to work.

I now understand my problem and need a 65nm cpu to work.
