i probably should have tried this with 32-bit XP

overall a brilliant processor it'll be a long long while before i need to upgrade. in fact i now have the most powerful PC out of any of my peer group! HOWEVER

overclocking was only a partial success my initial plan was to try for 4ghz since ive seen 4.2ghz achieved on air before but whatever i do i cant get over 3.9 despite the idle temps never going over 35 degrees c and full load never going over 50.

after a few prime95 sessions i had to settle for 3.77Ghz for full stability. my results would probably have been better if i opted to stay with windows XP 32 as opposed to windows 7 ultimate 64.

but then again what difference does a number make? this chip can still run rings around the majority of others for the price and combined with 8GB of DDR3 ram and a 790X motherboard etc.. i'm happy. a good chip for a mid-budget build.

one point i feel i should make though is that the stock fan was terrible! noisy and idle temps at stock speed were 40degrees c!

anyway time to go encode 4 videos at once or something!

I bought this with a new asus dulex motherboard and works amazingly. Not had a problem yet and i've been using it for a few weeks now.

The money is worth what you get out of it and im using this processor with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit OS.

I have not overclocked this yet and i probably wont need too. Its fast enough for games such as World at War and Left 4 Dead.

This 4 core 8mb cpu is awsome from amd

I had this Processor up and running in an hour. temps with the stock supplied piped heatsink and fan are no more than 43 under heavy load. with no overclocking.

No issues at all with the components below. Work's straight of the bat. And feel's very stable with windows 7 and also windows xp pro. And the speeds are amazing. And I have upgraded from an intel dual core.(duo) But this new kit together can handle anything I throw at it,

and my ageing nvidia 8800 gts gpu has been reborn,

And recording on a usb HD satelite card in software driven HD 1080p record mode is now a breeze, it only uses 17% cpu which before on the Duo was 70%... Blown away and happy :-)
