Works well with XP and MSI Wind/Advent 4211
operating system:
Windows XPThis card works and fits perfectly inside the MSI Wind and Advent 4211 netbooks.
It's the easiest way to allow them to use wireless N.
It also slightly increases battery life as it consumes less power than the B/G cards that ship with these netbooks.
The card itself has connections for three antennas but wireless N will work ok with 2 antennas. (Many wireless N products only have 2 antennas). Adventurous users can add a 3rd antenna to the netbooks but it requires a lot of disassembly.
With 2 antenna's expect to get network speeds of up to 200mbps, with 3 it's up to 300mbps. Thisis also dependant on what your wireless N router can handle.
XP drivers are available from intels website.
Excellent
operating system:
Windows VistaCame pre-installed in my Samsung NP-Q45 laptop. Driver support is excellent: Windows XP, Vista and 7 drivers for 32-bit and 64-bit editions are all available on Windows Update if they're not already on the Windows installation disc, so you'll have wireless network connectivity straight away. Linux drivers are also available for many distributions, though I've only tried Ubuntu (32-bit and 64-bit) which installed it automatically, just like Windows.
Performance is just as good with my wireless g router, with acceptable throughput, never lagging or dropping connection anywhere in my house.
This is definitely a recommended upgrade for anyone with an old 802.11 (or 802.11a/b wireless adapter.
