GeForce RTX 4070 Family - Where Does the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Fit?

There's now a total of four GeForce RTX 4070 family graphics cards. The first to release was the RTX 4070 Ti right at the start of 2023, which was followed by the RTX 4070 a few months later. Then at the start of 2024, NVIDIA unveiled two new RTX 4070 family cards as part of the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series: the RTX 4070 SUPER and, as you'll find on this page, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER.

RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Specs

The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER does not use the same AD104 chip found in the regular RTX 4070 Ti. Instead, NVIDIA has opted to bump the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER's GPU up to the AD103 chip, which is shared by the RTX 4080 and RTX 4080 SUPER. This was done to increase the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER's core count, as the RTX 4070 Ti features an already fully-enabled AD104.

Looking as its specs, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER boasts 8,448 CUDA Cores, a decent increase over the RTX 4070 Ti's 7,680 CUDA Cores. For context, the RTX 4080 (the next card up NVIDIA's product stack) has 9,728 CUDA Cores, so the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER sits somewhere between the two. According to NVIDIA, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is 1.6x faster than last-generation's RTX 3070 Ti, all while consuming less power thanks to the RTX 40 Series' ultra-efficient Ada Lovelace GPU architecture. This lead extends to 2.5x when DLSS Frame Generation is factored in, a technology exclusive to these RTX 40 Series GPUs.

DLSS Frame Generation, as the name implies, generates entirely new frames in-between existing ones using AI, amplifying your games' frame rates for a smoother visual experience. This isn't where the improvements end, either. Real-time ray tracing and AI performance is better on the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER on account of its increased number of RT Cores and Tensor Cores. While the RTX 4070 Ti has 60 RT Cores and 260 Tensor Cores, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER gets 66 RT Cores and 264 Tensor Cores. A small increase, but an increase nonetheless.

More importantly, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER sees an additional 4GB of GDDR6 video memory, to a total of 16GB on a 256-bit wide memory bus. VRAM has always been a bit of a contentious point for NVIDIA graphics cards, and 16GB of VRAM was definitely the right call for a card of this calibre. It'll help in those memory-hungry games with massive texture budgets, which are becoming increasingly common as the generation progresses.

RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Power Consumption and Form Factor

Even though its specs are an improvement over the regular RTX 4070 Ti across the board, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER's power requirement hasn't changed. The RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is rated at a TDP of 285W, with NVIDIA recommending a 700W power supply to power a whole RTX 4070 Ti SUPER-equipped gaming PC - just like the RTX 4070 Ti. Some factory-overclocked models may require more juice, however.

285W is remarkably efficient considering the card's performance level, but it will still need a decent cooling solution to keep temps low and clocks high. That's why most of the cards on this page come with hefty triple-slot, triple-fan coolers. So, before you buy one of these graphics cards, make sure it fits in your computer case first.
