Is 8GB of Ram enough?

If you use a MacBook Air or Pro just to do some internet surfing, the ritual checking of emails and general working with text documents. However, if you are working with code, music and video editing or use your laptop for gaming, then you should really go for 16GB or more.

Can you use PC RAM in a MAC?

In most cases the answer is no. Generally, you should always use Mac-specific memory for your Mac. The memory must be compatible with your current Apple system or you are asking trouble. Do not risk your Mac or the result could be very costly.

What do you need to know when buying memory for your Mac?

Firstly, you will need to know which model of Apple Mac you have, along with the name of the series, the processor, capacity and the year it was made. For example, the Apple iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (21.5-inch - DDR3) was made in late 2009). You will also need to know what type of memory is supported by your device. This could be DDR2 or DDR3 for example. If you are not sure what kind of Mac you have or what sort of memory it takes, then this can easily be rectified. You can look at your system profile by going on to the Apple menu. This will give you all the information you need to proceed!
