What is the main purpose of the monitor?
Creative professionals might look for a 4K monitors with superb colour accuracy, while gamers will need a gaming monitor with speedy refresh rates. If you're shopping for a monitor for your home office, you probably won't need all of those elements - but you should check your laptop or desktop to make sure you know what connection is needed, such as VGA or HDMI.
Choose the monitor screen size you need
Monitor sizes are measured diagonally corner to corner - a standard screen is around 22", but 27 inch monitor is a popular choice. What resolution do you need?
Resolution means how many individual pixels can be displayed. The higher the resolution of your monitor, the better the picture will be - but really high resolutions will need a powerful graphics card to match. Monitor resolutions are given as width x height - so a popular 1080p monitor is 1920 x 1080p, which is Full HD. For the sharpest, highest-quality images, look for a 4k monitor, which is four times the resolution of 1080p.
What does high refresh rate mean in monitors?
Simply put, the refresh rate refers to the number of times your monitor updates per second. Generally, the higher the refresh rate, the smoother animations and motion will appear on your screen. This is more important for some users than for others - for example, while you may not notice a low refresh rate whilst working in a Word document, it's much more obvious during gaming or watching movies. With a higher refresh rate, system responsiveness can also increase, giving gamers a competitive edge.
144Hz monitor or a 240Hz monitor?

What is an IPS monitor?
IPS is one of the four main types of monitor panels, all of which are variations on LCD technology. Also known as In-Plane Switching monitors, an IPS monitor uses liquid crystals, which are aligned in parallel to produce vibrant colours and imagery that are both consistent and accurate.
This kind of monitor is widely used due to its high performance level and versatility. An IPS monitor is well suited for both work and play, and generally has better viewing angles than other panel types. This makes them better for entertainment set-ups, and design work where colour accuracy is key.
