Every PS VR2 Announcement from the PlayStation Showcase

At May 24th’s PlayStation Showcase, Sony showed off over an hour’s worth of game reveals, teasers, and trailers. We’ll have a complete list of every shown below.

A decent portion of the show’s lengthy runtime was dedicated to titles for PlayStation VR2. PlayStation VR2 was recently made available at Ebuyer, and we’ve published a blog post reviewing the virtual reality headset’s tech-specs. Ultimately, we came away impressed with PlayStation VR2, but thought actual playable software for it was a bit thin on a ground.

So, let’s take a closer look at what Sony’s got in store for PlayStation VR2. Here’s every PS VR2 announcement from the PlayStation Showcase.

Resident Evil 4 VR Mode

Looking for an excuse to spin up another playthrough of the Resident Evil 4 remake? Well, Capcom’s got a treat for you, and a free one at that. Soon, the Resident Evil 4 remake’s main campaign will be playable from beginning to end in virtual reality. This will come as part of a free updated to the PlayStation 5 version of the game. It’s currently in development, so we don’t have a set release date yet.

As it’s in virtual reality, the new mode switches the game’s perspective from an over-the-shoulder camera to first-person. There’s already a virtual reality version of the original Resident Evil 4 for Meta Quest devices, but the remake’s enhanced graphics and visuals will surely make the experience of chainsaw-parrying Dr. Salvador all that more terrifying.

Arizona Sunshine 2

For those after a more laid-back zombie-slaughtering affair, Arizona Sunshine 2 is just the ticket. Arizona Sunshine 2 takes place in the same post-apocalyptic Arizona as the original, but this time you aren’t braving it alone. A four-legged companion by the name of Buddy will accompany you on your journey, and they’ll no doubt sniff out loot and help you take down zombies.

The game was unveiled with a computer-generated trailer, however, so we didn’t get to see the “all-new melee combat system that will push you to the very brink of your limits” in action. We shouldn’t have to wait too long for gameplay footage as Arizona Sunshine 2 is coming later this year.

Beat Saber

One of virtual reality’s most popular titles, Beat Saber, was shadow-dropped for PlayStation VR2 at the PlayStation Showcase. If you haven’t already heard of Beat Saber, it’s a virtual reality rhythm game in which you slice up boxes flying at your face to the beat of a song.

Beat Saber is also available on PlayStation VR1, and if you already own that version, you can upgrade to the PlayStation VR2 version for free. Any DLC you’ve purchased can be transferred over at no additional cost, too.

Synapse

Synapse, a new virtual reality action game from the team behind Fracked and Far Cry VR, received its second trailer. Developed exclusively for PlayStation VR2, the game sees you wield deadly weaponry with one PS VR2 Sense controller, while pulling off telekinetic abilities with the other.

All the while, the voice talent of David Hayter (who you’ll know as Solid Snake) and Jennifer Hale (one of the most prolific voices in the business) deliver the game’s story. This one’s right around the corner, launching 4th July.

Crossfire: Sierra Squad

Finally, there’s the first-person shooter Crossfire: Sierra Squad, which puts you in charge of an elite fireteam. While it’s loaded up with thirteen single-player missions, you’ll find the real meat of the game in its fifty co-op missions.

Once you and your co-op partner have worked through all those missions, you can squad up with two other mates and attempt to hold out in the game’s horde mode. Crossfire: Sierra Squad hits PlayStation VR2 this summer.
