Ask anyone who’s even remotely in the public eye about having their social media and personal accounts hacked and they’ll probably say that it’s a constant worry. Unsurprisingly, when you become a big enough name, people suddenly decide you’re worth targeting.
It probably won’t come as a shock to many that some of the biggest names in the celebrity world are also subjected to some of the most prolific hacks. It’s hard to say just how many hacks each individual celebrity experiences every year, but we can certainly tell how many people are talking about them.
To see which specific celebrities have recently been in the limelight after being hacked, we pulled together a variety of Linkfluence data over the past 12 months. We also used websites such as www.ranker.com to compile a list of the most talked about celebrity hacks in the world via social media and email.
So, without further ado, here are the most talked about celebrity hacks worldwide in the last 12 months, and the number of posts associated with them.

Famous singers are top of the list
Straight off the bat, the first trend we noticed was that the overwhelming majority of hacked celebrities being talked about are (or have been) singers. Our top 10 most talked about hacked celebs included the likes of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, who, let’s face it, are rarely out of the spotlight anyway.
Other top celebrities included Britney Spears and Travis Scott – Britney has been a target of hackers for her entire career, and Travis for his previous relationship with Kylie Jenner, so it’s not surprising that their hacks are mentioned regularly online.
Interestingly, the number of people talking about hacks on Kanye West, who came top of our list, was almost 1,000 more than those talking about Eminem, who came in third. Kim Kardashian, sitting in second, also received 500 more mentions than Eminem, really highlighting the popularity and interest these two celebs are constantly generating.
Other famous singers that were mentioned on our full list include Billie Eilish at sixteenth, Rihanna at twenty-third, as well as Katy Perry and Dua Lipa at the bottom of our list at thirty-seven and thirty-eight, respectively. However, Kayne West had over 1,800 more mentions than Dua Lipa, highlighting just who gets more focus when it comes to hacks.
Other well-known celebrity names
While singers made up a large proportion of our list, that’s not to say they were the only celebrities on it. Actors and actresses also appear to be popular hacker targets and get plenty of social media post mentions because of it.
Our first famous non-singer is Johnny Depp in the twelfth most mentioned spot. Given his recent court appearance with actress Amber Heard, it’s no surprise that he’s been the target of hacks and celebrity gossip. Unsurprisingly, Amber Heard made our list as well, no doubt for many of the same reasons we just mentioned.
Other big, hacked names that constantly crop up on social media include Paris Hilton, who took the eighteenth spot, Jennifer Lawrence, who is our twentieth most talked about celeb, and Emma Watson, who was twenty-fourth. And each of these celebs have had over a hundred mentions on social media and email combined.
Besides various actors and actresses, the only other celebrities to make our list were well-known models like Hailey Bieber, showing us exactly who in the world of fame we like to talk about.
What does this data reveal?
Besides showing which celebs are holding the top spot for hacking gossip, one interesting thing we noticed from our table is that those lower down our list were often related or well-known to those at the top. Could this represent a potential correlation between who gets hacked and who gets talked about on social media? It’s hard to say.
What this data does highlight more than anything, though, is that actors and singers, in particular, continue to be favourites in the public eye, even more so when they’re subject to a hacking scandal. This shows how widespread celebrity hacks can get alongside the enduring popularity of these various icons.
Regardless of whether or not a celebrity has recently been hacked, there are still plenty of us online who just love to share the gossip about those we admire, crush on, or are just curious to know a little bit more about, and that’s not going to change anytime soon.
